Parents Preventing Child Abuse Webinar Series

Each installment of this series will provide parents and caregivers with bite-sized and easily digestible information about  in person and online grooming as well as concrete tips and warning signs. Learn more about this new webinar series here.

Safety Over Silence (1.5-2 hours) 

In this workshop, adults will gain skills to minimize a child's risk of sexual abuse, including talking about body safety with youth and identifying when an adult may be "grooming" a child. Learn action steps for preventing, recognizing, and responding effectively to child abuse. Understand how the CAC provides support.

Exploitation in the Virtual World (1.5-2 hours)

Develop a better understanding of the sexually explicit content youth see online and how it impacts their development. Learn how perpetrators take advantage of youth online, how to recognize online exploitation of children, and tips for talking about it with youth. Learn how adults can help keep youth safe and what to do if a child has experienced online exploitation. 

Understanding Children’s Sexual Behavior (1.5-2 hours) 

When children demonstrate sexual behaviors, it can be difficult to differentiate which behaviors are developmentally expected and which behaviors may require additional guidance and redirection. Learn how to best respond and identify resources to support children as they build positive coping and social skills.

Stop, Block, Talk: Empowering Youth to Stay Safe Online (1.5-2 hours)

Stop, Block, and Talk teaches kids a simple but memorable way to use websites, apps, and games in the smartest and safest way possible. In this workshop, participants will learn:

  • What are kids posting and how can it affect their future?
  • What kinds of pressures do kids face?
  • What are the risks associated with commonly used apps, sites, and games?
  • How can kids reduce their risk through the Stop, Block, and Talk framework and by applying safety settings?
  • How common is sexting? What is sextortion and how does it happen?
  • What is the law pertaining to these issues in MA?
